The Easter Vigil began outside at sunset with some of our neighbours from St Stephen's West Vancouver (including Fr Jonathan and Fr Ayoob). A small group gathered around some rough wooden crosses to reflect on the reality of death and to remember our ancestors who once walked this path. Then we sung a Taize chant and processed to the New Easter Fire, where we prayed and light the Easter candle then followed the light into the dark church in procession. Kosta sang the exultet as the congregation stood in joyful silence around the font before renewing our baptismal covenant. After the Alleluias, bells and gospel proclamation, Bishop Richard (visiting from Canterbury, England) preached a profound sermon and we shared Eucharist together.
